The Mini-PAT is equipped with 12 originating lines, a single milliwatt terminating line and a single monitor line. The Mini-PAT uses DSP technology for tone detection. The unit can also detect the presence of speech and play back a digitally recorded message.

Each connected line is checked for tip and ring reversals.  The unit is also equipped with an RS232C interface for connection to an external computer.

The milliwatt termination line generates the 1004 Hz tone commonly used for testing and required to verify routing and billing on intra-office codes, since most switches normally do not bill for intra-office calls to tone trunks.

The monitor line allows the user making calls from the remote location to "listen in" on the calls as they are placed. The monitor line is secure and cannot be used for two-way communication.

The Mini-PAT operates off the standard central office battery. Various external power supply choices are available.

The chassis occupies three vertical inches and fits in a standard 23-inch bay; adapters are supplied for 19-inch bays.

With a dial tone interface from a third party, the Mini-PAT can be used in any analog or digital wireless PCS or cellular central office.
